Piedmont Area Chapter 752
Vietnam Veterans of America ®

Samuel J. Thompson, President

It has been my great honor to know Mrs. Ruth Fitzgerald. She is a lady with a mission that should have been taken care of many years ago. That mission is to pay honor to all of the men and women who served in the Vietnam War, who survived the war, but died as a result of it, either from injuries or other causes.
As a Vietnam Veteran myself, it is very good to know that there are people like Ruth who care enough to remember all the sacrifices made for our country by Vietnam Vets. Brave men and women came home from the war with torn bodies and spirits. Some died as a result of their wounds right away. But some died many years later from an illness or a wound that they received in Vietnam.
As a representatiave of Vietnam Veterans of America it was my honor to introduce Ruth to our organization. I knew as soon as I heard her details about the project she has undertaken that it would be something that all Vietnam Vets would want to get involved in. She has visited my Chapter in Culpeper, Virginia and gave her presentation to our members. The response from our members was what I had expected. It was my honor to also get our State Council to endorse this project, so as you can see I think very highly of Ruth and what she is doing.

There are many obstacles to overcome, but Ruth is very determined that this project is going to get done. With the help of other organizations it will be. I hope you will join with us in your suppport. Hopefully it won't take another 30 or 40 years to pay honor to those who died as a result of serving their country. There aren't many people left in this world that I admire, but Ruth Fitzgerald is one of them. I'm sure that once you get to know her and what she is trying to do, you will also.

Sincerely yours,

Samuel J. Thompson, President
