The 17th Cavalry Regiment was constituted on 1 JUL 1916 at Fort Bliss during the Mexican Revolution (Pancho Villa) and Inactivated 26 SEP 1921.

B Troop 17th Cav (Airborn Recon) was reactivated along with the 101st Abn Div at Fort Campbell KY in 1956.  A 'Rendezvous with Destiny'.

In the Early 60's the 17th Cav was expanded and the 2/17 Cav remaines at Ft. Campbell with the 101 Airborne Division.
